in LA. Seeing two early screenings of movies, having dinner with his boss, excitedly squeeling over seeing Chris Nolan, and hanging out at the beach. LA isn’t my favorite place, but this has been quite the adventure!
11, 12, 20, 30, 35, 64. BOOM :))))
11. You’ve got the TV on, but you’re not really watching. What channel is the TV on? HGTV. It’s my go to background noise channel, and it has been since I was like 8.
12. Name a song that never fails to make you happy. Keep Your Hands To Yourself - The Calling (though there are many that always make me happy).
20. Have you ever spent a night in the hospital? Yes, a couple of times when I was younger. I had fevers that they couldn’t get down and walking pneumonia.
30. Name a TV series you didn’t enjoy until after it ended. Veronica Mars.
35. What is “normal?” Are you normal? I truly do not believe that normal exists. Everyone is unique and that is a beautiful thing. People shouldn’t strive to be someone else’s definition of ‘normal,’ especially since normal is something different to every single person.
64. What is something you want to change about your current situation? Well, I’m really ready to move on with my life. I need to move out of my hometown again, and just figure out what the next step for me is. Whether that’s grad school, volunteering abroad, ect, I just need to take the plunge and move.

2. What makes someone a best friend? Someone who is there for you no matter what. Who knows you inside and out and can always make you happy, cry with you, and give you the advice that you need to hear. Someone who you can be completely yourself around…you never have to act a certain way, change who you are, or limit the things you say or tell them about. They should support you. They are the ones that you want to share the big moments of your life with, as well as the little day to day things that you can’t wait to tell them about.
7. What’s more important in a relationship: physical attraction or emotional connection? They’re both important factors, and I believe that they both play off of each other tremendously.
8. Name a movie that you knew would be terrible just from reading the title. HAHA, the first one that comes to my mind is Snakes on a Plane. I mean, really? You had to know going in.
38. Would you rather be in a relationship after the honeymoon period ends, or be single? Well, if you love that person, I’m sure you could move past being over the honeymoon period…however, I’ve always been a big believer in the fact that you can rekindle ‘honeymoon periods’ and passion between couples. Relationships take a lot of work, and you need to work on all aspects of them, but I believe that honeymoon periods (or being head over heals for each other) should never truly end if the couple loves each other to work on it.
83. Do you practice what you preach? Well, I’m not 100% perfect about it, but no one is. For the most part I believe that I do. I tend to only preach about things that are really close to my heart, and have affected me in some way, and therefore I believe strongly in.

1. Are you young at heart, or an old soul? I like to think I have the best of both! My mom has always said I had an old soul from when I was young, and said I was wise beyond my years. I was caught a few times making statements that no child should make. However, I think since I’m an only child, and had to grow up fast, I have no shame in bringing out my inner child. I love to act like a kid and have fun, but I think when it counts, I revert to having an old soul.
4. Tell me about a movie/song/tv show/play/book that has changed your life. I could probably name something from every category that has changed my life, but hands down, The Time Traveler’s Wife (my all time favorite book) has definitely changed the way I live my life and has altered the way I look at love.
15. If you could pick anywhere to live for the rest of your life, where would it be? Well, this thought has actually plagued me for a while now. I love travelling, and if I could be a citizen of the world for the rest of my life, I would. I’ve always felt very at home in Oregon, NYC, and London. I also have a pipe dream of moving to Montana and starting an organic farm. However, I’m sure that family will keep me close to home, so in CA, I would love to live in Mendocino County.
75. Describe a person that inspires you. I am blessed to have many inspirational people in my life. My parents, boyfriend, and best friend inspire me everyday. Anyone who lives the life they want to and follows their dreams, are an inspiration to me.
96. What have you never tried, but would really like to someday? What’s holding you back? I’ve actually always wanted to go skydiving! I see so many of my friends ‘taking the plunge’ and I would love to someday as well. I guess, just nerves are the only thing holding me back! That, and lack of a friend to go with me!
Thank you for asking! :)
Get up and go! There is nothing stopping you. Whether you are 18, or 81 there are ways! It is never too late to travel and see another’s culture.
My advice for someone travelling to a foreign country for the first time would be to respect other people’s cultures and differences, and learn from each other’s backgrounds. Remember, other country’s were built around the prospect of making their citizens happy, so just try your best to go with the flow. Think like an adult, but act like a kid. Get excited, run through central park, play games while waiting in long lines, make everything an adventure! And finally, live for today, but plan for tomorrow.
I hope you all enjoyed my travel challenge!
- Running into someone’s arms. Especially when you’ve missed them tremendously.
- Getting into bed with clean sheets and freshly shaved legs.
- Kneeling in a church and giving yourself over to the fact that there is something bigger than you.
Travelling has taught me so much! How to be open to other’s cultures, and how to let go of my inhibitions and immerse myself completely in something new. How to be self reliant and independent. How to be alone. How to make new friends, and rekindle old friendships. How to communicate in different languages. How to make instinctual decisions.
I think most importantly, travelling has taught me how to follow my heart and listen to my soul.

My Aunt Allison. She loved to travel.
She was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and fought it for the last 12 years of her life. It was not easy, and she was in pain the majority of the time, leaving her unable to travel. She longed to go back to Australia, Hawaii, New York City…but she just could not do it. I miss her every day.
She taught me to live fully. Through her I learned to take advantage of the opportunities I have, while I still can, because someday I might not have the chance anymore. I don’t want to leave this world with any regrets. I want to leave this world with great memories and countless stories.
She taught me you don’t always have to conform to what other people want from you…this usually just comes back to haunt you. You should live your life the way you want to live it, and by doing so, you’ll attract like minded people who want to share your life with you.
Of the moment: “If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel— as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them— wherever you go.” - Anthony Bourdain
Of all time: ”The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” - St. Augustine
Yes, I definitely have a few! They include the first time being completely and totally independent form my parents help/suggestions, the first time travelling overseas with my boyfriend, the first time I had to leave a place I didn’t want to…
but the biggest first for me was coming back home and realizing that I was different, and that home was relative.
Anything by Flogging Molly.
Hands down, I would have to say, true Italian pizza. We’re talking back ally, down home, Italian pizza. Sometimes I literally tear up when I think about how much I miss it.
However, I do come from Austrian stock, and I loved a good schnitzel with noodle when I was in Vienna.
When I’m away, the things I miss most from home are:
- Huck (my doggy).
- In n Out (I rarely eat there, but when I’m away, I seem to crave it)!
- Being less than two hours away from San Francisco.
- My own car, because even if you rent one and feel the freedom that only a car can offer, it’s still not your car.
- My closet. Yes, yes I know…you can always buy things on the road…but there’s such a sense of calm knowing that you have something to wear for every possible occasion!
